Nominating Committee Interviews Applicants for Loea seat on CWRM

A nominating committee has been formed to vet applicants to fill the Native Hawaiian practitioner seat on the Water Commission. The seat is currently held by Uncle Neil Hannahs.  He served two consecutive terms, the maximum allowed by the Water Code.

The legislature created this loea seat to ensure that at least one commissioner had expertise in the traditional and customary water management practices of Native Hawaiians.

The nominating committee interviewed 14 people and recommended four as candidates for the Governor’s nomination to the Water Commission.  Day 1 and Day 2.

Together, we can restore Hawai‘i’s waterways.
